Abstract

This article presents an Information Resource Specification and Design Language (IRSDL), a tool for specification of the requirements of logical data base design. IRSDL supports the representation of different data views, the production of a unified conceptual schema, the validation of data base schema, and the creation of extensive, user-friendly documentation. The language is a first step in a computer-aided logical design methodology being developed by the authors at the University of Arizona.
