Abstract
The Problem Statement Language (PSL) is based on the primitive concepts of entities, relationships and attributes.
Practical experiences, over several years, with PSL has demonstrated that such a language can be used successfully for efficiently describing information processing systems from the logical, i.e., user, point of view.
A number of methodologies for describing the physical views of information processing systems have been proposed.
This paper summarizes an analysis of the languages used by several of the methodologies which demonstrates that each of these languages can also all be considered as a special case of the entity-relationship approach.
